What is Sexual Harassment?

Sexual harassment in the workplace is a serious matter. It involves unwelcome sexual conducts and can happen between people of different sexes, or those of same sex.

Sexual harassment is unwelcome sexual attention that occurs in the workplace in particular, or in an educational setting. It includes a range of behavior from mild transgressions and annoyances to serious abuses, which can even involve forced sexual activity. It can be verbal, non-verbal, or physical. Sexual harassment is a form of abuse, both sexual and psychological.  It creates a hostile and intimidating environment. It interferes with the victim’s performance. It is psychologically traumatic especially when acceptance of the harasser’s behaviour is made a condition for employment, promotion, or academic achievement.

Sexual harassment is wrong, immoral, and illegal.  No one has the right to force you into any situation you are not comfortable with. Say ‘no’ to it. No one deserves to be sexually harassed.
It must be stopped. Say ‘no’ to it. Resist and report all forms of harassment. Take charge for your life!
